Viaggando e leggendo s'impara
PASSION FOR ITALY NEWSLETTER DEC 2010On of the delightful things about travelling in Italy is being able to step outside our apartment door and right there, is the local bar to have a macchiato cafe and my local fruit man with the freshest vegetables and fruit that has taste like the old days. While working at my computer in Italy, I would snack on cherry tomatoes which were so red and sweet with flavour that they were better than lollies. I would not even think to do this with our tomatoes. I have grown them this year and am very disappointed that even my home grown tomatoes are still sadly lacking in flavour. That is if I can get them before the bush turkeys (who have recently invaded my garden) and the possums do. |

MERRY CHRISTMAS from PASSION FOR ITALY TRAVEL |
Another busy year for Passion for Italy Travel. A lot has happened in 2010 beginning the year taking my youngest two children with me to work in Italy for three months. Life is so incredibly different there and the children often say "I miss Italy". I say " Now you know how I feel when I return!" I also miss my Cafe Macchiato. On my last day in Italy I felt sad drinking my last macchiato as I knew how much I would miss them every morning. There is nothing better than a good barister!! - Worth their weight in gold I say!! The best thing was missing the hot summer here and I loved wearing coats and scarves and boots for a change and living the European lifestyle. It is so much classier than summer clothing. The children could now give you a tour around the fabulous hotels on passionforitaly.com and tell you which one is the most fabulous as they saw many with me. They always managed to charm the Italian owners and I loved showing them the magnificence of travelling around Italy. |

See our newest amazing Boutique hotel, located in the Sassi grottos or caves of Matera, Basilicata. I cannot help but rave about this fascinating place I am looking forward to staying there in May next year. The history, the decor is unbelievable. View it - it is nothing like you have ever seen before. This harsh environment had an impact on visiting writers, poets and film directors: from Carlo Levi to Paolo Pasolini. Mel Gibson filmed his Passion of the Christ in the Sassi. In 1993 the Sassi of Matera became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. |
