During the second half of 19th century, puppetry was a popular Italian performance art, known as Opera dei Pupi. This guided visit inside the puppet maker's artisan workshop gives you the opportunity to meet the only family in Sicily still crafting these puppets who have been performing their shows in Italy and the rest of the world since 1921.

The visit begins with an introduction to the materials and the antique tools used in crafting these unique works of art. You will also be allowed to handle the puppets and at the end of the visit you will enjoy a short performance.The lab is situated in the heart of Catania so after the tour you might like to stay in the area and explore the city. Your guide can also recommend a trattoria for lunch.
